Carlsbad Caverns National Park, New Mexico, March 3

Carlsbad Caverns are part of the Guadaulpe Mtn. range, remnants of the ancient coral reef. After the Visitor Center we descended on the windy path down the natural entrance of the cave. We walked down 750 ft. into the Earth to see the most amazing sites along the way.

The natural entrance of the Caves.

We jetted up to the surface in the modern convenience of the elevator to enjoy lunch in the cafeteria in the visitor center.  We then returned to the famous 8.5 acre Big Room to continue our stroll through the Giant Dome, the Rock of Ages, Painted Grotto, and the Bottomless Pit.

More cave formations!!
Draperies in the caverns!!
