We found both pink and red jasper!
We met up with this expert and found we were rather ill equipped without gloves, pick ax, rock hammer etc. but he educated us with tips for rock hunting and we had some great fun. Thank heavens we didn't max out our weight limit- it would have been terrible for gas mileage. We crossed over to Arizona and headed up to Roper State Park. It was a lovely setting on the side of a lake, boasting of a hot spring in the campground. We enjoyed running and hiking around the lake, the quail that abounded, and of course the hot spring!
Hot springs at 6am wasn't actually so hot!
Caroline has a chance to skype from New Mexico to her class at the N. Hampton School!
